Heart Tree Wedding Part 3: The Reception

{See previous entries in this series here: Ceremony and Bridal Party Photo Shoot}

The reception was held at Tre Monti Ristorante in Troy, MI.  It was absolutely the perfect venue for us since we wanted enough space to do some fun activities we were planning but we really did not want a dance floor.  No offense to those who love to dance but we are just not that couple; the idea of having a first dance in front of everyone and doing the mandatory mother-son/father-daughter dances was not our idea of fun.  We instead focused our efforts on finding other fun activities for the guests.

In lieu of flowers, I opted for cupcakes decorated like flowers in my wedding colors.  I placed my heart tree logo in some inexpensive black frames for the table numbers.

The head table had a coordinating cake.  All cake and cupcakes were made by Pinwheel Bakeryin Ferndale.

The candy buffet was a huge hit!

We decorated a chinese takeout box to place at each seat.

The menu was Italian fare served plated, as it is in a restaurant.

Instead of a traditional guest book, we kept with the heart tree and bird theme and had a wedding wish tree.  Guests wrote their wishes to us on tags stamped with red birds and tied with aqua ribbon and then hung them on the tree.  My talented uncle welded the tree together for me, and my aunt decorated it with lights and pearls.

Flip flops in my wedding colors were provided to guests wearing heels, but not for dancing.  It was for…

BOCCE BALL!  Tre Monti is equipped with three private bocce courts, and guests had fun playing into the wee hours of the night.

A great time was had by all!

Mmmmm…

This cake was finger lickin’ good…

Another big hit at the wedding was a caricaturist! (Tip: Create a list for people to sign up on so that they don’t have to stand there and wait in line for their turn.)

{P.S. Creepy fact: My iPhoto “Faces” face recognition program recognized people’s caricatures and tagged them accordingly.}

I don’t think I can cram any more pictures into one post, so I’m going to put the final pics from the reception in the next post.  Stay tuned for Part 4 on Monday!
