Heart Tree Wedding Part 5: The Music

{See previous entries in this series here: Ceremony, Bridal Party Photo Shoot, Reception, and More Reception

The mister and I are quite the music snobs.  We like what we like and did NOT want to have to hear any “crap” at our wedding.  So, needless to say, a DJ was out.  There would be no chicken dancing or tootsie-rolling at our wedding.  Luckily, our venue had speakers throughout the room’s ceiling to play music from our iPod playlist.  I’d like to think we had the best wedding music ever (which is not TOO much of an overstatement since we got tons of compliments) and it was super budget friendly too.

Without further adieu, our ceremony playlist:

Bruce Springsteen – Thunder Road

This was the opening song and the mister’s one demand for the wedding.  It’s always been his favorite song and, to be honest, he may not have married me if he couldn’t stand there listening to it.

Ryan Adams & The Cardinals – My Love For You Is Real

The bridal party came out to this song and the aisle runner was laid out.

Ryan Adams – Desire

This is one of my favorite songs, and it was an amazing song to walk down the aisle too.  Perfect length, perfect words, perfect music.  Everyone asked me later what song it was; they thought it was beautiful.

TV on the Radio – Lover’s Day

If you know this song, you will understand why we chose it for our exit song.  It’s super fun and lively and we wanted a jolt of energy to walk out to.  We may or may not have chuckled to ourselves slightly hearing it in the church, and my mother may or may not have disapproved of the choice.  But hey, it was our day!

Dinosaur Jr. – We’re Not Alone

We played this song in the background as we dismissed the guests row by row to leave for the reception.  It’s a nice long song too for the slow pokes in the crowd! 🙂

Note: Do not let the photos scare you away.  These are all really good songs…
